Duncan Lewis, former Australian Ambassador to NATO and former Director of Australian Special Forces, discusses his country’s support for the ISAF operation in Afghanistan. It represented Australia’s first direct involvement with NATO and required all sorts of new relationships and liaison points to be made. He emphasises that, when that military operation finishes at the end of 2014, it will be important to maintain and build upon the experience gained from this partnership.
